lyrics

LYRICS

A love sad was parting from his dear one
And both were tasting bitterness and woe
For though they long had planned upon their marriage
Their parents both had sternly ordered “No”

You are too young they said and have no money
On which the family’s burden to begin
Then let me go he said, and seek a fortune
If I go West I know I’m bound to win

I will see you in Seattle Celia Mine
It won’t be long till 1909
Like henceforth will all be song
Be it short of be it long
When I see you in Seattle Celia Mine

The years had quickly passed since they had parted
Through trials hard the youth had fought his way
Though hindered oft, he maintained his devotion
And persevered nough else will ever pay
A little land he bought for for a beginning
And quickly sold for double what he’d paid
Thus prospered from the first and blessed from Heaven
The groundwork for a fortune soon was laid
